On our way back from California it just so happened that it was the NHRA Pre Season Testing, the 3rd Annual Drag Racing
Blast Off at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We spent an awesome day watching the big names in drag racing testing their cars.

 | With ESP Racing Ltd.'s dedication to satisfying the sponsors needs, we have appeared in various articles as a result of the on site locations we have attended. While at the 2004 AHR Expo our sponsors corporate logos were on display to a very wide range of different corporations. We are very pleased to say with all the different locations which we have attended, the public response has been positive and the car is always an eye grabber. The picture below, courtesy of Simon Blake, Editor of Plumbing & HVAC Product News, was taken at the AHR Expo and was published in their March/April 2004 issue.

One June 5-6th Budweiser Motorsports Park held their annual Lucas Oil / Western RV Funny Car Showdown Event and ESP Racing crew had the
car out doing some test runs. Mother Nature decided not to cooperate on Sunday, but fortunately we were able to get a test run in before
the race was called. ...more pictures

On August 3rd, 2004, Leon Prevost, owner of ESP Racing brought his Nitro Funny Car to Spokane WA.
Energy Saving Products displayed the car at an Open House at Thermal Supply for a luncheon barbeque on August 4th, 2004.
The response was amazing and we were
treated so well by the Thermal Supply staff and their customers. Dave was even taken to a
couple of John's job sites to see the installs. A very special
thank you from Randy, Pam, Colt and Dave.
After the Thermal Supply Car Show, the crew headed to Spokane Raceway Park to wash and
park the truck and trailer and get the car ready to run at the 42nd Annual A.H.R.A.
World Finals, 2004. The world finals were held August 6th- 8th of 2004.
Our goal was to get a license and qualify to be in the show but after
Friday rained out, the Pro Sessions where cut down to Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
and Saturday Evening at 8:00 p.m. we knew all hope of qualifying was gone, so
we concentrated on getting our A.H.R.A. Top Fuel Funny Car Licence.
We went to the line with our first attempt and would be the
first fuel car to attempt the track on Saturday.
All the other fuel car drivers and their crew were very interested to see what we would do, so they could
adjust their tune-ups for track conditions. The track was not there yet as we went up in smoke
immediately, and shot the car hard to the right towards the cement. All of the other drivers
were impressed with the control of the car, but they all scrambled back to the pits to adjust
their cars for a slick track. As it turned out, every funny car but one smoked the tires
in the first session.
On Sunday, we had to make a good pass to get a licence, so smoking the tires was not an
option. As it turned out, Neil made the right decisions in his tune-up and we went down the
track straight and fast.(6.24 @ 195mph) After this pass, other drivers, owners and crew members
came by to tell us of the fine job we did. It takes a lot of hard work to get to this point,
and for these pro's to come and tell us that we did well, is proof of our commitment to the
program. A.H.R.A. officials gave Randy a licence, and invited us back next year to compete.
The ESP Racing team is now recognized as an operating fuel car team, and that credits
Leon Prevost,Randy Bykowsky, and Neil Fedderly as an elite group of individuals.
Photo's and video will follow later.

The ESP Racing Team had a challenging year in 2004 with the goal of obtaining a Nitro
Funny Car license. We as a team needed to build a car capable of running the
low numbers at the track, without destroying parts before accomplishing our goal.
The Owner of the Car Leon Prevost was very instrumental in the purchasing the parts
and keeping the team focused on thier goal.
This allowed the crew chief Neil Fedderly to design and assemble the combination needed
for a good race season. Once the car was running, the ESP Racing Team had to learn the
idiosyncrasies of the car. It was a big learning curve for the crew, but everyone
stepped up and did thier job well. As a new Funny Car Driver I was experiencing something
different each pass down the track. We as a team were all learning the dynmaics
of running a Nitro Funny Car together.
The 2004 season couldn't of been completed without the help of a lot of good people.
I would like to thank Leon Prevost, Neil Fedderly, along with my wife (Pamela), and
son (Colton), for their support in my life long dream of obtaining a Nitro Funny Car license.
Without these people in my life, I would not have accomplished this goal.
The list of people helping us is to long to mention all, but I want to thank
a few for their support, advise, encouragement and help. Dave and Tim who do the clutch,
which I have to be especially nice to (Clutch guys always want to lose first round).
Rob and Kimberly Reeves and all Budweiser Motorsports Park staff, Ric and Jason DuChene,
Ken Sitko and family, Mike Grekul, Terry Capp, Scott Ward and Sean Prevost. Also the
support from Energy Saving Products, Front to Back Reprographic Solutions,
Drader Manufacturing, Fabco, and The Powder Station was greatly needed and appreciated.
Thanks to all mentioned and many more for helping me get my license.
Randy Bykowsky "6429" F/C
